A Busy Weekend at Highland Activities

With 5 stag parties in this weekend taking part in our full range of activities it has been a busy weekend for Highland Activities. On Saturday we had over 40 people enjoying canyoning and gorge walking in the baking heat with pleasant water temperatures and great water levels after Friday's thunder storms. Our quad biking trips were also fully booked all day as was clay pigeon shooting and archery.

This week we have some awesome white water rafting aailable on Thursday and Saturday with releases of water scheduled for the River Garry giving us guaranteed water levels even if we have no rain. When the dam at the River Garry is releasing we have access to the best rafting in the U.K. during the summer, so make sure that you don't miss out on a fantastic experience.

New Centre in the Great Glen

It's been a while since we last posted due to lots of exciting changes with Highland Activities. We now have a new centre based at The Great Glen Water Park near Invergarry just north of Fort William.

This now gives us two fantastic locations with an even wider range of activities.

Today we were out water skiing and wake boarding on Loch Oich at the water park site, the water and weather were both pretty good. We also had lots of customers enjoying bumper rides (inflatable doughnuts being towed behind the fast speed boat). The guys that have been learning to kayak this week have also been having fun on the water with some fantastic coaching from Steve our kayak coach.

Yesterday we were out on the River Awe near Oban where the release of water from the dam gave us some fantastic grade 2 to 3 rapids for white water rafting and duckie rafting. The River Awe is a great trip for families and anyone looking for a good introduction to white water rafting. This river is just outside Oban and easily accessible for people on holiday in the area and approximately 1 hour from Fort William.

We have a busy weekend ahead with several stag parties coming along to enjoy some quad biking, canyoning, clay pigeon shooting and tomahawk throwing.

Take a 2 hour tour of the stunning Ardverikie Estate in a heated Lanrover Defender. On route we will be taking in the stunning mountain scenery of the this prestigous highland estate commonly known to many as "Glen Bogle" as it was named as the setting for the BBC t.v. series "Monarch of the Glen".
With Exclusive vehicular access to this very special place Highland Activities will take you on an off road tour past Ardverikie House which was named "Glen Bogle House" in the Monarch of the Glen series, we can also take you to our base "Gollie's Cottage", "The Gillies Rest" (The pub but no beer I'm afraid) and then onwards into the spectaular wilderness where we will be spotting the many deer and the Majestic Highland Stag. There are countless wildlife spotting opportunities on Ardverikie and we regularly spot a whole host of birds of prey incluing Buzzards, Eagles & Ospreys along with the cheeky wee Red Squirrel during the spring an summer months.

Highland Activities are proud to announce that in partnership with ATV Highland we can now offer a full Yamaha ATV dealership service. We will now be retailing the Yamaha ATV range as well as offering used quad bike sales, servicing and repairs.

We have chosen Yamaha due to their proved reliability and durability and the features that they offer for the price. We have been testing these new bikes on a wide variety of terrain in various scenarios and now have demostration stock available for trial. If you are interested in test riding a new Yamaha ATV then call us to discuss your requirements on 08450 945513.

We will also soon have some 2nd hand quads available for sale including Apache 150, Yamoto 150 and Honda 250 machines, so if anyone is looking for a quad for leisure or work give us a call.

Winter Activities

Well it's been a fantastic fun filled summer with lots of exciting outdoor adventures bu it is now that time of year when we start to lose daylight and those colder temperatures are creeping in. We have now finished our mainstream water activities for a few months so no canyoning or gorge walking now until Spring 2009. Weare still able to take out groups of 8 or more on white water rafting trips subject to the weather and water levels in
our local rivers.

We are still running quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, archery, tomahawk throwing, 4x4 driving and mountain biking over the winter months. We are also available for snowboard lessons as soon as the snow arrives and can offer personal tuition and video coaching for anyone looking to learn or improve your riding.

Thanks to everyone who has been out to play with us over the summer season and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

This week we have mostly been quad biking!

Actually the title lies, we have been quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, white water rafting and canyoning, oh and a bit of archery thrown in there as well.

The weather for the past six weeks has bee so dry that a lot of natural fed rivers all over Scotland have pretty much dried up, luck for us we have access to the River Garry for rafting at this time of year. The River Garry gives us great water once or twice a week due to the freshet releases that are intended to let the Salmon up the river but it's great for rafting and kayaking too!

The low water levels haven't had to much of an impact on our canyoning venue as it is still being fed from up high and the snow melt is still hanging in there.

Quad biking on Ardverikie Estate has been great for scenery and fantastic views over the Creag Megidgh range recently and there is now more wildlife starting to appear with thw warmer weather and the midges have not been bad at all! (I'm probably gonna regret that statement).

White Water Rafting in Scotland This Summer

Well it looks like the summer is finaly arriving and with that in mind we have now started our summer watersports programme of white water rafting, white water canoeing, canyoning and gorge walking.

So far this season we have been rafting on thr River Garry, a classic grade 3/4 run with great white water and guarenteed water released from the dam. The River Garry runs at least once per week from now until October which is fantastic at this time of year when all other rivers can be dry due to the lack of rainfall.

Our quad biking trips are currently taking place on Ardverikie Estate or known to many of you as Glen Bogle as the setting for the BBC's Monarch Of The Glen series. This is one of Scotlands most stuuning highland estate's and what better way to explore it than on your own 250cc quad bike!

Quad biking around Ardverikie Estate is fantastic due to the stunning scenery, wildlife and natural terrain on offer with miles of tracks and great forest sections to play in! So far this year we have seen stags, roe deer, red squirrels, buzzards and eagles, it really is hard to keep your eyes on the road. Be sure to bring your camera!

Autumn Activities

Recently the weather has been so kind to us we have been canyoning, white water rafting, quad biking and clay pigeon shootng!

Throughout the next few months we will still be open for Qaud biking, clay pigeon shooting, white water rafting, funyakking, archery and paintballing so come on down for some autumn fun.

Our last day of rafting on the River Garry for 2007 will be Thursday the 25th of October with releases being switched off until spring 2008 when we look forward to seeing you all for some white water rafting action.

Autum Quad Biking in Scotland

With the Autumn colours now in full flow our scenic quad biking trips are proving to be very spectacular. With the colours changing on the trees and water in the rivers giving us fantastic autum scenery we think that this is a great time of year to get out into the hills of Scotland on a quad biking trip. The wildlife that we have spotted recently has also been on the up with sightings of Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Satgs and Golden Eagles throughout September and October.
